National Stakeholder Consultation for the Development of the NAP‑ASGM 11-13 August 2026 | Luxent Hotel, Quezon City
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in partnership with the Artisanal Gold Council Philippines, successfully convened the National Stakeholder Consultation for the development of the National Action Plan for the Artisanal and Small‑Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) Sector.

The 3‑day event was graced by Engineer Michael Cabalda, DENR Assistant Secretary for Mining Concerns, and Ms. Josephine Balonga, President of the National Coalition of Small‑Scale Mining Association of the Philippines. Also present were AGC Executive Director Mr. Roger Tissot and AGC Director of Strategy and Development Mr. Peter Rosenbluth, who provided international perspectives and strategies in the work towards strengthening the country’s commitment to responsible and mercury‑free ASGM.

Representatives from 20 organizations, including national government agencies, small-scale mining associations, CSOs, and local government units, contributed valuable insights toward shaping a safer, more sustainable, and community‑centered ASGM sector.
