Dawn Po Quimque
As the Director of Communications for the Artisanal Gold Council
Dawn is a communications specialist with over a decade of experience in media and development communications, focusing on environmental and social issues. She has been working on artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) since 2018, supporting efforts toward responsible and mercury-free practices.
From 2022- 2025, she has served as Communications Specialist for the planetGOLD Philippines project. She translates technical concepts such as mercury-free processing, supply chain due diligence, and community formalization into clear and engaging stories. Her work has helped strengthen the project’s visibility, amplify local voices, and highlight the impact of responsible ASGM.
Dawn has led and contributed to campaigns on reducing mercury use in mining and consumer products, and promoting the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources. Before joining the development sector, she worked as a documentary journalist in Philippine media, producing documentaries and feature stories on socio-economic and environmental issues.
