Burkina Faso Price Update – Field prices remain steady at 82% of spot, 12% below pre-Covid

Artisanal gold mining re-opened May 4, 2020. Field prices for gold, which had fallen to as low as 54% of spot, bounced back up to around 82% by May 6. This latest update, May 20, shows prices remaining steady in the low 80% range.
Today in the field of our contacts the price offered varies from 24,000 CFA francs to 28,500 CFA francs. The price of carat gold on mining sites is on average 1,180 F CFA today May 20, 2020.
Today’s spot price (May 20, 2020 at 11:00 GMT) is US $ 56.29 per gram of pure gold or US $ 2.3454 / carat.
